Role synopsis
The Commercial Manager is accountable for safeguarding the financial and commercial interests of BP with regard to the construction contract in question by managing and controlling risk, income and expenditure.

A competitive salary applies.

Key accountabilities
Ensure initial cost plans are sufficient to carry out the works to be undertaken
Develop procurement plans and procure the works in conjunction with Procurement and in accordance with the cost plan and design information available. i.e. buy right
Ensure that there are no scope gaps during procurement – that everything required for the project is bought and from the correct / appropriate source
Perform tender analysis to ensure value for money is achieved and that the works have been procured at the best market rates
Provide cost report information to internal and external clients to enable business and project objectives to be met
Ensure adequate welfare and site set up facilities are procured to satisfy project requirements
Ensure that a change control procedure is in place to monitor design changes and control costs
Issue and agree instructions / variations to trade contractors on a monthly basis
Perform interim valuations to ensure subcontractor payments are made in a timely manner
Prepare and monitor project/package risk schedules
Handle any insurance claims arising on the project to successful conclusion
Assist procurement in the resolution of any legal disputes arising in conjunction with the legal department
Assist in the production of final accounts, including the handling of any claims
Produce cost analysis feedback / lessons learnt to the company for future works
Raise requisitions and issue receipts as part of the purchase-to-pay process as and when required
Essential Education
Quantity Surveyor degree or equivalent experience
Essential experience and job requirements
Construction project management experience
Quantity Surveying or strong commercial background
High level of technical understanding
Business acumen
People management skills
Other Requirements (e.g. Travel, Location)
