Role synopsis
The Capability Advisor SMR is a member of the Commercial, Sales, Marketing & Retail Capabilities team which is accountable for working with the Downstream businesses to develop strategic organisational capability plans that drive and deliver the business strategy through differential capability building and learning across a global, cross-business environment. The team is part of the Downstream Academy. The post holder will work to assess the needs and demand of the business; design, develop and implement appropriate solutions within the 70:20:10 framework to build capability. The post holder will engage actively with the sales, marketing & retail community to engage and work with a diverse range of delivery teams from a global audience.

Key accountabilities
Build, maintain and execute a 5 year plan to support the building and sustainment of distinctive sales, marketing and retail capabilities
Develop and maintain relationship with the businesses to identify capability gaps and changing strategic capability requirements
Lead the design, development and implementation of prioritised capability solutions. Where the solutions include learning solutions, ensure solutions are underpinned by 70:20:10 methodology and deployment methods are sustainable and cost effective
Engage and lead faculty / development teams to maintain the quality and integrity of the learning offer to ensure it meets the business needs.
Promote, schedule, plan and facilitate existing virtual and face to face classes to meet business demand
Support the transition of any new offers and maintain the current offer in MT&L working with the Regions, Talent & Learning Services team to ensure a smooth offer to learners and faculty.
Continuously improve the offer in response to delegate feedback and the changing environment, including content improvement and development of new materials, exercises and experiential learning options.
Identify, design and execute opportunities to include virtual and on-line delivery options.
Ability to scale solutions across global businesses in Downstream and beyond.
Link with the broader BP University and DS Academy teams to ensure alignment of activities and sharing/adoption of best practices to enhance the offer and drive the sharing of internal and external best practice.
Utilise external benchmarks and keep up to date with external thought leadership on commercial activities. Curate content for internal audiences.
Essential Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Essential experience and job requirements
Technical Behaviours:
Experience of sales, marketing and/or retail activities.
Experience of Lubricants and/or Petchems businesses an advantage.
