Background to vacancy/ What is the purpose of the job? What do you need to achieve?
The M & S Foods business have ambitious plans, with 300 Stores to be opened over the next 3 years. The Q system has been key to enable sustained business growth over more than 5 years, improving forecasting, order planning and replenishment of stock in our stores and continues to be a strategic business tool supporting the growing multi-billion pound Foods operation.
The FSOR team are engaged with external programmes including plans to improve M & S the hospitality business, removing dependency on legacy mainframe systems, completing transition of our beers, wines and spirits supply chain systems and continuing to support Foods business analytics.
The successful candidate will have experience of running agile projects at scale, working with external agile and waterfall delivery, co-ordinating systems changes and interdependencies, identifying external innovation opportunities and an ability to manage ambiguity. The candidate will own the delivery of the changes to the Q system, other interfacing systems and interfaces, working closely with systems architects and the Q product owners to deliver high quality stable solutions that continue to meet the business requirements and key SLAs
- To deliver high quality stable Q solutions meeting the scope of the project to time and cost
- To work closely with the FSOR product owners to build and maintain the backlog to deliver their projects managing interdependencies with external teams
- To manage external programme dependencies and balanced against the overall FSOR backlog
- To support the wider FSOR team, collaborating within an agile delivery framework
- To measure the outcomes and benefits in order to justify investment
- To establish a high performing team (comprised of various vendors) delivering innovative technical and business solutions in an agile delivery environment, ensuring the cost effective, timely & appropriate solutions are delivered
- To establish and maintain good relationships with the business, IT and vendors effectively resolving conflicting priorities or issues that may arise

Technical skills/business skills required
- Strong experience of hands on delivery of multi-vendor projects and associated tools and technologies to ensure delivery
- Strong experience in dealing with business users, architecture and IT programme delivery peers
- Strong experience of
- Planning/prioritisation, estimating, monitoring and controlling tools and techniques
- Risk management techniques - risk identification, analysis, estimation and mitigation
- Quality management tools and techniques
- Ability to work under pressure, successfully prioritise, make trade-offs on work and time, for self and others
- Previous experience of agile delivery (at scale), including scrum, would be beneficial
- Familiar with IT Group operating model, policies and Quality Processes, including architecture, technical and solution design, operational service and support
