This role will have 2 main customers: The Babcock Incentivised Fleet Management (IFM) consulting team and DSG and will report to the Head of Finance - Bids and Transformation.
IFM are responsible for delivering a portfolio of strategic and tactical projects aimed at improving equipment support to the Army under the current DSG contract and preparing for and sustaining the transition to an availability-based strategic support solution (SSS). The team work closely with the Army Headquarters to identify, develop and implement a broad variety of projects aimed at reducing operational risk, driving down enterprise-wide costs and enhancing the quality of service to the soldier on the ground.
The candidate will take full financial ownership for all DSG Contract Change Notes, ensuring they are priced accurately and have appropriate governance applied to them.
The Management Accountant will also work within the IFM project team, providing financial leadership and data analysis for individual projects as well as supporting the financial management of the IFM portfolio as a whole (i.e. annual budgets and quarterly forecasts).
The candidate will work within a dynamic and energetic team of consultants and business SMEs with “Big 4” consulting, OEM supplier and Defence experience and will have the opportunity to work both independently on specific areas of responsibility as well as working as part of individual project teams
Provide financial support to the formulation, analysis and delivery of evidence-based propositions for optimising the £1.5bn Army equipment enterprise
Source, analyse and summarise volumes of data from various locations to influence/support project outcomes, this could include both financial and non-financial data such as actual/forecast demand, readiness levels, and supply chain.
Provide financial analysis – Investment, Cost/Benefit, Income Statement, Balance Sheet etc
Control, update and maintain the integrity of the IFM forecast model at project level and for the portfolio as whole
Provide monthly IFM performance position in line with month end process
Provide monthly customer invoicing summaries
Produce and present annual forecast to the customer on a monthly basis
Provide accurate, robust and timely financial business planning requirements for quarterly Forecast, annual Budget and annual Strategic Plan processes
Establish, create and maintain appropriate processes to ensure effective financial and business controls
Reconcile operational data to that reflected in the accounts and on other ancillary source data systems
Provide financial and business support to the Head of IFM and the IFM Programme Director and be able to influence them on your decisions
Align financial aspects of wider company policies and procedures by active integration with senior business colleagues, particularly with procurement, purchasing, commercial and human resource functions
Ensure integrity of accounting data via robust, timely transactional processing and review processes for management information in an ERP environment
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, good knowledge of MS Office.
Experience of ERP systems and Financial Reporting Tools
Qualified CIMA/ACCA or equivalent
Experience in statistical modelling techniques such as Monte-Carlo analysis
Experience in risk management and the costing of business and project risk

Up to date knowledge of Financial Accounting framework and that of the Regulating Bodies.
Ability to provide added value analytical information to support the decision making process of the business.
