Role synopsis
The EGP Gas Trader Role within the EG&P trading team is a key commercial position as the bench looks to continue to build out its Gas business within BP’s Integrated Supply and Trading group. The role will report to the Gas Book Lead trader and is accountable for generating value trading and optimization income in the European gas markets. In addition to their own discretionary trading activity, the individual will help to facilitate customer flow / originated activities.
Key accountabilities
Consistently generating $3m+ income from own discretionary trading
Drive increased diversity of quality of earnings across value trading and optimization activity
Provide direction and support to Origination in developing structural opportunities
Managing within defined risk limits at all times (MVaR, position, vega etc.)
Assist mid and back office personnel in resolving any checkout discrepancies between BP and the counterparties on the trader’s trades
Maintaining high ethical standards and complying with all market rules and regulations
Promote and support our “Speak Up” culture unconditionally
Essential Education
Essential experience and job requirements
A track record of realizing diverse trading results while generating speculative income in the European Gas markets.
Practical experience of driving originated deal flow.
Strong commitment to compliance.
Sound one team behaviours with the ability to receive and provide respectful challenge.
Excellent knowledge and understanding of energy trading markets and trading instruments.
Attention to detail and ability to work within a very deadline orientated environment.

Desirable criteria & qualifications
Proven buy & sell-side experience of pricing natural gas storage (physical and virtual), gas swing contracts, gas transportation contracts and oil indexed swing contracts. Including track record of capturing extrinsic value associated with these positions
Proven record of working collaboratively with supporting functional teams to help improve processes and drive efficiencies.
Good organization and time management skills with strong problem solving and analytical skills.
Experience with Open Link Endur.
