Role synopsis
IST Global Oil is the pre-eminent oil supply and trading business in the international oil markets, providing both the BP Group and external clients with supply, trading and price risk management services for crude oil, oil products and emissions. Organised into Global Commodity books, IST Global Oil has supply-trading teams in three regional hubs - Chicago, London and Singapore, which covers the Eastern Hemisphere (“EH”).

IST EH is the trading face of BP in the Asia-Pacific, Middle East and East Africa markets. The scope, scale and diversity in the East have resulted in IST establishing regional offices in China, Japan, Indonesia, India and the UAE. The priority is to support BP Group assets and to participate where the BP Group has limited presence but where the supply-trading opportunities could be material. A major proportion of IST EH business comprises third party and entrepreneurial activities. IST Marketing and Origination (“M&O”) provides the origination capability which brings these new relationships and deals in support of the Global Commodity books.

The Structured Products Marketing team in IST EH provides risk management services to consumers, producers and refiners throughout Asia, Middle East and South and East Africa. Through their expertise and knowledge of oil derivatives they are able to provide our customers with the products they need to manage their risk positions. All the transactions are executed on behalf of the trading benches within agreed parameters and guidelines. The relationships between the Structured Products Marketing team and the Trading benches are key to success. They will jointly ensure that the right customers are receiving the appropriate focus and that the opportunities deliver the greatest value to Global Oil.

SP offers access to a unique channel (3rd party corporate customers) for IST Global Oil. As a result, SP marketing can
-Operate as a leader and driver of overall strategy;
-Gain market intelligence not available to brokers and other active physical traders;
-Serve as a separate entry or exit point/Liquidity provider for risk positions.
-Source clients for physical or more structured/financial deals
Key accountabilities
Working in Singapore as a member of the SP team, the successful candidate will work with the Head of Structured Products and other team members to develop and execute marketing strategies to generate entrepreneurial income for BP. In addition to being totally compliant with BP's trading guidelines, ethics, control and HSSE policies, the Marketer will be involved in a range of activities including:

Build / transition / cultivate energy commodity derivatives customer relationships via exceptional commercial performance.
Provide risk management services to our existing client base: principally on crude, oil products and natural gas, but potentially on related underlyings (coal, CPO, Carbon)
Take responsibility for the onboarding of existing target clients and new clients, working with group functions (Legal, Documentation, Credit, Tax and others) to bring the clients to the point of being able to deal.
Provide coverage of existing and new clients allowing a flow of derivatives business that contributes directly to our derivative P/L, adds value through information flow to our physical and prop traders, and allows expanded discussions with clients on physical or structured business
Be involved in the continuing education of internal stakeholders, both client facing and otherwise, working towards a high degree of comfort in integrating derivatives and risk management in phsyical offerings to group clients
Develop strong relationships with Trading Benches, Originators, Marketers, supporting Functional teams including Credit and Legal.
Ensure alignment between customer risk management product offer delivery and physical trading strategies.

Individual roles and responsibilities within the team will be decided based on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.

Essential Education
Bachelor's Degree
Essential experience and job requirements
Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and influencing skills, and a strong comfort level in working effectively with people across the organizational levels and geographies.

3-5 years or more of Derivatives Sales or Trading experience preferably at a commercial/Investment bank, Oil trader or major or large energy merchant.
Ability to work to a high pressure timetable, often with internal constraints on credit, documents, legal
Team oriented attitude, willing to put the needs of the business ahead of personal financial optimisation
Presence and persuasiveness to be able to communicate with, and claim the attention of, traders and book leads in providing risk management indications to clients
Degree level preferred

Energy derivative financial product knowledge and experience. Strong capability and understanding to identify risk characteristic components, correlations and other risk factors. Capability to understand and develop financial models and price risk.

Conversant in fundamental economic supply demand and macro analysis and technical analysis.
