Anaesthetic fellow with an interest in Pre-anaesthetic assessment - part time post
We are delighted to be able to offer for 12 month, a part-time position for a highly motivated individual to join our well integrated team in a dynamic tertiary referral centre specialising in complex major orthopaedic surgery.
The post has been created with a view to continue improving the pre-anaesthetic assessment of surgical patients, and to work with the anaesthetic department in providing services for complex orthopaedic surgery.
The Trust is a 220-bedded specialist hospital caring for predominantly tertiary referral patients with complex orthopaedic problems as well as some local secondary referrals. The work of the Trust includes spinal deformity correction, spinal injury treatment and rehabilitation, bone tumour, paediatric orthopaedics, peripheral nerve and brachial plexus injury and revision joint surgery, 25% of our referrals are paediatric patients.
The Anaesthetic Department currently has 26 consultants and 8 specialist trainees. There are 12 adult ICU/HDU beds and 4 Children's HDU beds and we also provide an outreach service. We also run acute and chronic pain services, a long-term venous access service, and are involved in ventilatory weaning programmes and domiciliary ventilation. We have regular departmental educational and audit meetings as well as a formal hospital wide audit programme. Opportunities exist for audit and research and will be actively encouraged. Continuing medical education and appraisal are actively supported and the department is preparing for the introduction of revalidation.
Job plans will be developed with the successful candidate and will take into consideration any individual requirements.
