Background to vacancy/ What is the purpose of the job? What do you need to achieve?
Opportunities have arisen for experienced people leaders to join the Operations team at our Castle Donington distribution centre. You will play a key role in driving Operations at the centre of the M & S Supply Chain, delivering great customer experiences for both Ecom and Retail especially through our Peak.
As a Team Manager, you will lead and manage the people and processes within an operational area of the distribution centre to deliver a safe, efficient working environment embracing a culture of operational excellence whilst providing best in class service.

Your key accountabilities and measures will include:
� Coach, lead, motivate and develop your team by role modelling the M & S Values, supporting engagement at all levels through the delivery of effective communications, briefings
� Manage operational processes to maximise the opportunity for productivity, optimise storage and conveyor utilisation, escalate issues and engage stakeholders to resolve them whilst minimising operational impacts
� Support the Functional Department Manager in planning, managing and adjusting staffing levels during the shift in line with planned and flexed volumes to support delivery of site targets as defined by customer requirements
� Drive a culture of health and safety through leading by example
� Support a culture of continuous improvement using Operational Excellence principles and acting as a role model for this within your team
� Drive process adherence to ensure quality metrics are delivered at all stages of the process
� Drive cross functional working as one team to ensure delivery of site targets working at every stage to exceed customer expectation

Technical skills/business skills required
� Experience of working in a large scale distribution facility within efulfilment or similar fast paced industry
� Proven track record in leading large teams to achieve, or exceed, operational targets on a daily basis
� Customer focused and aware of the external and internal customer requirements for quality, efficiency and accuracy. Has the ability to manage expectations of internal business customers
� Understands commercial outcomes of decisions and the impact on other areas of the business
� Understanding of Operational Excellence/Continuous improvement tools, techniques and problem resolution skills with the ability to apply these skills within the Distribution operation
� A proactive and self-starting individual who seizes and acts upon opportunity. Instigates action, ideas and actively influences event
� Willing and able to adjust to changing demands and circumstances
� Flexible approach with a desire to exceed targets through proactive management
� Accomplished at motivating others within a logistics environment and able to develop an individual�s skill and experience to meet personal and corporate goals whilst supporting the needs of the business

� Experience of working in a large scale automated distribution facility with experience of working with multiple MHE solution providers
