In 2015, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital became a single Foundation Trust. Research Fellows (ST4+ equivalent) in Emergency Medicine
Fixed Term Contract for 12 months starting from August 2017
We have an opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic and organised Emergency Medicine doctor who is keen to gain research and training experience. This job is suitable for senior middle grade doctors and trainees who will have opportunity to get involved in an Emergency Department based research project. In preparation for this post, the fellows will be supported to complete the Good Clinical Practice training and a Data Science Course for doctors.
The Research fellow will be working along with our other senior fellows (Medical & Simulation, Ultrasound, International EM), Higher EM Trainees and Hospital Research Team.
The Emergency Department at Chelsea and Westminster Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is a dynamic, forward thinking, busy department with a strong focus on education, training and research. We currently see approximately 112,000 patients per year with a good case mix of critical care, majors, minor injuries and primary care patients. Our research team works along with the ICU research team and have joint research projects lined up which we plan to start in the next academic year.
Applicants are invited to join our dynamic team of 9 Consultants and 41 junior EM doctors.
These jobs are for Senior Clinical fellows who will be based at Chelsea and Westminster Emergency Department (0.8 WTE) and are expected to provide clinical cover for the department which will be negotiated with the rota co-ordinator. The remaining time will be spent working on the research projects.
You will be provided with a working area and access to medical review website. You will be encouraged to attend the RCEM research days and present your original idea. You will have the opportunity to arrange external courses, attend conferences and supported to publish articles.
