Do you want to work for an organisation who has just received an overall rating of GOOD from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) with a rating of OUTSTANDING in care?

The post offers excellent specialty based experience in Cardiology. You will be expected to contribute to the Middle Grade rota for Acute and General Medicine and cardiology clinics. At least MRCP part 1 will be required for this post. You will be required to work on Cardiology In-Patients Wards along with other Cardiology SPRs, CMTs and FY doctors. Opportunities to train in advanced cardiology investigation and therapeutic procedures will be available; this includes transthoracic echocardiography, coronary angiography, cardiac catheterization and permanent pacemaker implantation.

Please note this post is not officially a recognised training post. However, you can expect to be mentored and supported in your application for LAT and SpR posts. The training given will be at an equivalent level to middle grades on the North West training programme as the cardiology department is recognised for StR training. You will be encouraged to attend local teaching at the trust and will have documented Educational and Clinical supervision with ACAT, DOPS, and MINICEX SLE etc.

The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust has a keen interest and extensive involvement in Medical and Dental Education at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels. We work in partnership with Lancaster Medical School, North Western Deanery and Health Education North West to provide quality education and training which meets the requirements of these regulatory bodies as well as the Trust's high standards of patient care. UHMBFT provides one of the main NHS settings for students from Lancaster Medical School as we co-ordinate, deliver and quality assure the clinical component of Lancaster Medical Schools MBChB degree programme.

The Hospital is situated on the edge of the Lake District National Park, surrounded by an area of outstanding natural beauty offering superb outdoor and recreational activities, particularly related to the sea, lakes, fells and countryside.

You must be fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice.
