The European Prospective Investigation of Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) is a well-established observational study looking at the relationships between diet and lifestyle and how these may affect health. Between 1993 and 1997 the European arm of EPIC recruited over half a million men and women in ten European countries and 30,000 of those people lived in Norfolk (EPIC-Norfolk). There have been four previous phases of EPIC-Norfolk and at each stage the focus of the diseases being studied has broadened.

The aim of the latest phase of EPIC-Norfolk (the fifth health check) is to investigate cognitive function, ability and patterns of physical activity and body composition. This research has the potential to help in the understanding or prevention of some of the more common diseases such as Dementia, Cardiovascular Disease and Diabetes.

Applications are invited for a full/part-time Research Nurse (up to 37.50 hours/week) wishing to work as a member of a small team based at the EPIC-Norfolk Research Unit, Norwich Community Hospital.

You should be able to communicate effectively using the English Language in both written and verbal forms, enthusiastic, highly motivated and an excellent team worker. Relevant experience working in a participant-focussed medical research environment is essential.
