The Podiatry Department run an in-patient screening service called Putting Feet First for people with Diabetes and this would be incorporated in this role. The successful candidate will be provided with in-house training to gain competencies in diabetic foot screening, assisting during foot ulcer clinics and assisting during nail operations. As well as screening the feet you will provide foot care advice to patients and record the data on the RIO IT system.

You must be capable of working on your own initiative with minimal supervision but also as a team member when supporting the diabetic foot ulcer clinics and nail operations. The job requires you to be physically fit as part of your time will be covering the wards at our Hospital sites.

There may be opportunities to become involved in the education sessions to newly diagnosed diabetic patients that are run at other sites across the County; therefore excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential and a general knowledge of diabetes including signs and symptoms would be desirable.
